Father Don variously ran a hamburger restaurant, then an insurance company, then some kiwifruit orchards and currently breeds thoroughbred racehorses from his base at Rangiriri, NZ with wife Jo.
I was a bright but confused child who excelled at sport not school, playing for the first XI in cricket and soccer. After high school I studied computer programming but quit, it was too stressful. Worked for a timber yard in small town for 3 years and gained minor celebrity as a rugby player. At 22 I began a series of 5 pilgrimages to the UK, with number three being to resume heavy drinking in Edinburgh, number four being for the purpose of marriage and number five being a star witness in a kidnap trial.
Now single in Melbourne, Australia where I continue to write sporadically, without any cats of dogs.
