Oz People Trace

 White Pages

White Pages - it is very good, has maps, and is the biggest Australian people finding database by far. If the surname is rare, just call up any of the resulting numbers, and ask if they know the person you are seeking - there's a good chance they are a relative.

 Reverse Phone Search

There is no online way of finding who owns a phone number. However, there is was one piece of software that can!

I have a 2003 copy, so if you use the form at the bottom of this page (and say please), I'll run a search on a landline number for you. It doesn't have unlisted numbers (aka silent numbers), or mobile numbers (they start with 04).

  • More info on reverse searching in Australia
  • This resource is not free Abika - I mhave not verified this, but they say they can reverse search of Australian phone numbers, including mobiles and unlisted numbers.

 Romance

RSVP

  • RSVP - totally huge - more than 250,000 members, and so far have 700 marriages to their credit!
  • NineMSN - very popular

 Some Tricks and Ideas

  • Australia isn't yet the same as the USA - it has better privacy laws. The tools on this page are all I've found. For superior searching go offline - electoral rolls, for example.

 Private Investigators

 Old School Friends

  • SchoolFriends - covers school, universities, clubs, defence units and workplaces
  • Pal Seeker - 100% Australian owned, and it is free!
  • Aussie School Pals
  • Oz Reunion - reunions listed for free, listings for individuals cost $20 - free to search
  • Here I Am - less than 1,000 members when I looked in Dec 2002 - based on only 20 registered people with the name John
  • Australians Reunited - launched August 2002, now has 10,000 members. Covers schools and workplaces.

 Google

They might have their name on a website, either personal, education or work-related. Search for them using Google and these types of search queries. The "site" part restricts the search to sites that are from that country.

  • site:au "joe bloggs"
  • site:au "j bloggs"
  • site:au "joe * bloggs"
  • site:au "j * bloggs"
  • site:au "bloggs, joe"
  • site:au "bloggs, j"
